Precautions

  • In our view the following are precautions that we would suggest you at least read and bear in mind:
  • FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE TO SHOP UNTIL YOU DROP AT OUR AMAZING AND WELL STOCKED SHOPPING MALLS, NOTE –
Hired cars are targeted for theft
  • WHEN PARKING YOUR CAR IN A PARKING AREA YOU MAY GET UNSOLICITED ASSISTANCE FROM “CAR GUARDS”, WHO EXPECT TO BE PAID FOR THEIR SERVICE. THIS WOULD BE IN THE REGION OF R5
Be careful not to bump into the over-eager parking attendant
  • SOME PEOPLE ENJOY DOING THEIR SHOPPING FROM THE TRUNK OF YOUR CAR
Keep your car trunk closed until you have returned with all your shopping and are ready to leave
  • SO THAT YOU DO NOT BECOME TOO FAMILIAR TOO QUICKLY WITH LURKING LOCALS WHEN STOPPING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, –
Keep all valuables out of sight. wind your car windows down a fraction…..about 5mm this helps prevent smash and grab incidences
  • SO….. YOU HAVE THE LATEST, UP TO DATE, EXPENSIVE, CAN’T-DO-WITHOUT CAMERA, TO TAKE THOSE NEVER TO BE REPEATED PHOTOS OF THOSE SPECIAL MOMENTS
Do not advertise the fact that you are a tourist, and keep that camera out of sight
  • USE ONLY TAXIS OR TRANSPORT SUGGESTED BY YOUR HOTEL HELP DESK
The hotel can arrange this for you
  • CAR LOCK REMOTE JAMMING IS A FAVOURITE FOR CAR THEFT
Make sure that your car is properly locked before you walk away from it
  • DO NOT ASK PEOPLE FOR ASSISTANCE AT ATMS, YOUR CARD COULD GET CLONED
Go to the nearest bank and ask for assistance – NEVER give out your password
  • ONLY USE ATM MACHINES IN WELL LIT AREAS, MOST SERVICE STATIONS HAVE THEM, AND ARE OPEN 24 HOURS.
Make sure that no one is watching over your shoulder
  • WHEN PAYING THE BILL AT A RESTAURANT OF YOUR CHOICE, ASK THE WAITRON TO BRING THE PORTABLE CARD MACHINE TO THE TABLE, OR YOUR CARD MAY GET CLONED
Most restaurants have them, if not, go to the machine they have at the desk
