We, the locals, walk the walk and talk the lingo.
Happy to meet you!!
We have travelled our beautiful country extensively and encourage you to do the same. Our team is proudly South African and we would like you to be too for the duration of your stay. Pop by for a chat on our site, ask questions, feel comfortable and become savvy safe.
What Do The Locals Say is designed to afford you a safe trip to the tip of Africa. As locals, we are aware of the places to avoid, and the safe routes to various destinations throughout the country. Booking a holiday through the internet is very popular, and the B&B that you saw on the web looks great, but where is it? Does “Easy access to the beach” mean walking through a squatter camp, or climbing down a 100 foot cliff?
Let us know what you are planning, and where you want to go, and we will advise you as to whether it is a good choice, from a personal safety point of view, or recommend a different destination or route, and what precautions need to be taken. When evaluating a destination, we will give it a star rating between 1 and 10 with 1 being the least safe, and 10, the safest. We will also rate the route to and from the venue in the same way.
We are not affiliated with any travel company, or tourist organisation, and our recommendations are based on our own opinions as local residents.
We post a recommended place to visit every month, and if you would like to receive this blog as an email, please subscribe here.
Disclaimer: We obviously cannot guarantee your safety, but we will not recommend anywhere that we would not be happy to take young children to.
